NUS Sustainability Report 2016

As with the purview of the Sustainability Steering Committee, the focus of this report is on the operational aspects of the University. Future biennial sustainability reports would be the primary vehicle for tracking NUS’ progress and achievements toward the 2017-2020 Plan’s targets. Detailed information on NUS’ sustainability-related teaching programmes and research thrusts can be found on the websites of the respective faculties and research institutes/centres and centres of excellence

NUS Sustainability Strategic Plan 2017–2020

The multi-year, multi-faceted Sustainability Strategic Plan developed and deliberated by the NUS Sustainability Steering Committee, focuses on the operational aspects of the University. It identifies the University’s key environmental impact areas and articulates the goals as well as actions to be implemented to reach the set targets by 2020.

2017 WEF-GULF ISCN Report: Educating for Sustainability

At the World Economic Forum 2017, the International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN) in collaboration with the Global University Leaders Forum (GULF) shared exemplary campus sustainability case studies provided by 30 of the world’s leading universities all focused on educating for sustainability, as detailed in this report. NUS School of Design & Environment’s Net-Zero Energy Building (NZEB@SDE) – the first purpose-built net zero energy building in a Singapore tertiary institution – was featured as an example of how sustainability education can be transformed in a modern laboratory.

IARU Green Guide for Universities 2014

The International Sustainable Campus Network (ISCN) and the Global University Leader Forum (GULF), convened by the World Economic Forum, have developed a Sustainable Campus Charter. This Charter provides universities and corporations a common frameworkto formalize their commitments and goals on campus sustainability, and is based on broad principles of buildings and their sustainability impacts; campus-wide planning and target setting; and integration of research, teaching, facilities and outreach. This NUS ISCN-GULF Charter Report presents the university’s sustainability goals, initiatives and progress, against the three principles of the Charter.
