NUS’ 16 Schools and Faculties, as well as its 26 university-level research institutes and centres, focus on critical issues confronting Asia and the world. Much of the research at NUS multi-disciplinary in nature, of which one important theme is Integrated Sustainability Solutions (ISS) for energy, water and the environment.
The ISS cluster activities include
- Exploratory Science in primarily basic science studies and research
- Future Technology which involves innovation research in systems integration
- Policy Implementation in disciplines in the arts, social sciences, economics, law, policy and business practices
- Energy Sustainability, a thread that underlies all the research institutes and groups as energy considerations in security and resilience are common to these disciplines
